NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department has arrested a teenager in connection with a shootout at a South Nashville market that happened earlier this week.
On Monday, officers were called to a market on Bell Road at about 11:20 p.m. after a person reportedly fired gunshots into the store. Investigators said they think the incident involved two suspects who were asked to leave by an employee once they started grabbing merchandise.
One of the suspects allegedly punched another customer in the store and the employee pulled out a firearm. As the suspects walked out of the market, one of the suspects allegedly fired shots into the market and struck the employee in the stomach. The employee then reportedly followed them out of the store and returned fire.
On Thursday, the MNPD announced that detectives with the Specialized Investigations Division arrested 19-year-old Tavarse Reed Wednesday night. He's been charged with attempted criminal homicide, assault and evidence tampering. As of publication, Reed has been jailed in lieu of a $76,000 bond.
Efforts are ongoing to identify the second suspect.
