WINCHESTER, Tenn. (WKRN) — The man found in Winchester Friday with a bullet wound has died, authorities said.
According to the Winchester Police Department, 61-year-old John Cobb of Springfield, Tennessee, has died after he was struck by what authorities believe was a bullet.
Police originally believed upon responding to the scene that Cobb suffered a medical emergency and fell. The bullet wound was later found during medical treatment.
According to Winchester police, the bullet is "possibly from a rifle," and it is believed the "bullet may have been fired recklessly into the air" and hit Cobb when it came down.
Cobb was found Friday, July 4, on Twin Creeks Marina Drive near River Watch Way.
Police said in a Facebook post that the bullet was fired into the air in the Winchester area on Friday between 9:10 p.m. and 9:25 p.m.
