Description
MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) -- A man who was seen running across Interstate 40 after a home was burglarized in Nashville was taken into custody in Mt. Juliet Sunday afternoon.
According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, an officer spotted the man along I-40 on Sunday, April 13 and caught up with him as he entered Mt. Juliet. He reportedly gave multiple fake names, had no proper ID, and was carrying someone else's phone.
When law enforcement contacted the phone's owner, they said they learned owner's Nashville home -- located along South New Hope Road near the county line -- had just been burglarized, with a window smashed to gain entry.
Authorities said their thorough investigation, jail booking procedures, and fingerprinting allowed them to identify the suspect as a 24-year-old from Memphis. He's currently being held in the Wilson County Jail, but he also faces aggravated burglary charges out of Nashville.
"This arrest likely stopped more crimes from occurring in our city," MJPD wrote on social media. "We’re proud of our officers who stay alert, investigate suspicious activity, and take action to protect our community."
No additional details have been released about Sunday afternoon's incident, including the identity of the man who was apprehended.
