NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A convicted sex offender from Mississippi is back behind bars after he reportedly attacked a manager at a fast food restaurant in Nashville over the weekend.
The manager told News 2 the incident took place on Saturday, June 14, after the suspect tried to pay for his food with money from the employee tip jar.
"The cashier who is taking his order has a little tip jar out in front. So the guy looks down and literally takes the money out of the tip jar and tries to pay for it and my cashier goes, 'Hey, you are stealing my money,'" the manager explained.
News 2 learned the suspect was identified as 33-year-old Adrian Sharkey. According to the Mississippi Sex Offender Registry, Sharkey was convicted of statutory rape in September of 2021.
After the confrontation with employees, Sharkey allegedly became irate and combative.
"There was a family in the lobby with five kids, young kids, and he's cussing so we are trying to get him out of the lobby and he's threatening me saying, 'let's fight, let's fight,'" recalled the manager.
At some point, Sharkey gets his hands on the manager's neck, according to an arrest report.
"He is trying to swing on me and I'm ducking," the victim told News 2. "There was one point where I did turn my back and he did get me, but I got out of it in a few seconds. He ended up scratching my face, no biggie."

Court documents state that two employees repeatedly asked Sharkey to leave and eventually guided him outside to the parking lot.
"He was doped up, swinging and yelling at everybody, tackling everybody, charging everybody and always trying to hit somebody," added the manager. "He was banging on the doors, the glass, it was crazy."
Sharkey reportedly made threats while leaving the restaurant, telling workers he would "come back and shoot up the place."
According to the manager, approximately 20 minutes passed before police arrived at restaurant. The 33-year-old left the area after the altercation, but returned while officers were at the scene.
"The lady goes, 'What does he look like?' I turned around, and the guy is literally walking back to us. That's when she called for backup and that was that," recalled the manager.
"Isn't it crazy they say, 'What does he look like?' And you turn around and you go, 'He looks like the guy walking right at you," stated News 2's Andy Cordan.
"Literally, that's how it happened," replied the manager.
Sharkey was booked into Metro Jail on charges of felony aggravated assault by strangulation, misdemeanor trespass and misdemeanor theft less than $1,000. His bond is set at $27,000.
