NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A mother is pleading for your help after her 21-year-old son was hit by a car and left in the street on a busy Nashville road.
Zach Carach is okay but faces a long recovery.
Over the weekend, Zach Carach and his family were visiting from out of town, celebrating Zach’s 21st birthday.
“And in a split second, it all changed," said Sheena Carach, Zach’s mom.
Everything changed on Sunday around 6 p.m. In the surveillance video, you can see Zach on Church Street, he looks both ways before crossing the walkway. Moments later, a silver Mitsubishi Mirage hits Zach, throwing him airborne, and then drives off. Zach’s mom runs across the street.
“I just prayed. I don’t think I've ever prayed like that. I just begged God that if he needed somebody, take me and take his place,” Sheena said.
Doctors told Sheena it's a miracle her son is alive. Now, she is determined to find the driver of the vehicle.

“And to that person that is out there and watching this, please do the right thing, turn yourself in and come forward. If you’re a parent, I'm begging you, do the right thing,” Sheena said.
She said more could be done to catch the driver, such as license plate readers. “There is no reason that they should not have cameras at intersections. Especially when I'm finding out that this is a common occurrence."
Sheena said she hopes MNPD will make this case a priority. Since 2016, her family has been personally thanking police officers for their service across the country through their non–profit, Donut Boy. “We are the poster child of police support, and this is a moment that I need them, I need them, because I've always had their back."
She said she won't stop until someone comes forward.
“Please share this. Please help me find who hurt my child because if it were your child, you would want someone to have your back, and they say it takes a village, so I'm pleading with all of Nashville to be that village for me."
If you know anything about this crime or if you've seen the vehicle with front-end damage, you are asked to call Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
A GoFundMe is up to help with medical costs for Zach.
