FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — After a two-year renovation at the historic Hayes House, it's back open to the public.
The 1899 Victorian home sits on Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin and the manager of the farm lived there in the mid-1900s. The famous Tennessee Walking Horse Midnight Sun also lived and trained at the farm.
According to the Friends of Franklin Parks, Midnight Sun was a two-time World Grand Champion. Several pictures of the horse have been placed throughout the home as have furnishings appropriate for the time period when the Hayes Family moved in.
“We've restored it to be able to tell the story of the farm and the horse and offer an opportunity for the community to take a walk back in history,” Torrey Barnhill, Executive Director of Friends of Franklin Parks, told News 2.
You can take a free public tour of the house any Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m. The home can also be rented for special gatherings. For more information about rentals, you can email Kellie Baker with the Friends of Franklin Parks.
