FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — The annual Pilgrimage Music Festival will soon return to the Park at Harlinsdale Farm, which means park closures are now in effect.
The park will close until October as preparations for the festival begin.
This is the 11th year the city is hosting the festival, which includes a star-studded lineup. John Mayer, Kings of Leon, Turnpike Troubadours and more will headline the festival.
Franklin Parks and Recreation Superintendent Suzanna Carter said they usually have 15,000 to 20,000 come to the festival each year.
But it takes a lot of work to set up the farm for the fest.
Starting today, the K-9 Korral Dog Park is closed, and starting Wednesday, the entire park will close. This week festival officials are setting up trailers and offices for artists and festival mangers. Next week, the stages will come.
To give themselves time to take everything down after the festival, Parks officials are keeping the park closed until Oct. 3.
Carter told News 2 it's important for residents and visitors to remember the canoe launch is also closed.
"That's a big one through these weekends," she said. "People want to get out on the river. We keep the park closed for safety. There's a lot of heavy equipment moving around, and we just want to make sure the people setting up the festival are safe and that the citizens are safe."
While the K-9 Korral is closed, the city said you can take your four-legged friends to Freedom Run Dog Park at Liberty Park.
