GALLATIN, Tenn. (WKRN) —An ex-con who went to prison for drug offenses has found himself back behind bars after he was arrested on more drug charges in Gallatin.
After a months-long investigation, officers with the Gallatin Police Department raided a home on North Electra Street and hit the jackpot.
Bodycam video obtained by News 2 shows what happened during the raid at the home on Thursday, May 1.
As seen on video, authorities used a bullhorn to announce the search warrant and minutes later, located their suspect—identified as 37-year-old Edt Winford, who surrendered to law enforcement.
"Gallatin police Investigative Unit targeted this individual with a diligent investigation and was able to serve a search warrant on him," Captain Lamar Ballard told News 2. "It was a huge win for the community of Gallatin."
When officers searched Winford's bag, they reportedly found 20 pounds of meth, 4 pounds of marijuana, and 2 pounds of cocaine, which is estimated to have a $500,000 street value in total.
"This is another example of an individual known to Gallatin police for a long time who is currently on probation for drug sales and continues to sell drugs," added Ballard.
According to officials, Winford has a long history of drug offenses that have landed him behind bars multiple times.
"He is on probation currently for possession of meth with intent to sell," continued Ballard. "I would say he is probably facing additional charges, we are talking to the Feds to see if they want to pick up the case with this large amount of narcotics that were seized. Like I said, it's a huge win for the citizens."
When asked if the Gallatin Police Department is tracking the drugs to another source, Ballard provided the following answer:
"Absolutely, we are always targeting individuals distributing this amount."
Winford is being held in Sumner County Jail facing multiple felony charges, including manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of methamphetamine; possession of a Schedule II substance for resale; possession of Schedule VI substance for resale; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the Department of Correction, the 37-year-old was previously convicted of two counts of possession of meth with intent to manufacture, sale, and deliver and attempted possession of a firearm with prior drug conviction.
It remains unclear how last week's arrest will affect his probationary status.
