Description

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — The City of Franklin is exploring a new way to make it easier for residents to recycle by opening a dedicated drop-off site for cardboard recycling.

Residents can drop off cardboard for recycling at the location, which is at 417 Century Court. Leaders said the new program offers an alternative option for large or several cardboard items that can't fit inside a blue bin recycling container.

Only Franklin residents can utilize the site and all cardboard has to be flattened before it can be recycled. Additionally, there can't be any contaminated material like food waste or plastic. Cardboard has to be inserted through the designated side slot, not the top opening.

Anyone who wants to use the facility has to check in with the on-site attendant before unloading the cardboard.

It will be open from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday as well as from 8 a.m. until noon on the first Saturday of each month.

The city is looking into the introducing a glass recycling option at this location in the future.
