WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Earlier this month, a Wilson County logistics facility announced plans to permanently close — a move leaving dozens of workers without a job.

GEODIS Logistics, LLC, announced in a June 10 WARN letter that the facility on Aldi Boulevard would be permanently closed. That closure will take effect July 31 and leave 40 workers without a job.

"We have made the difficult decision to close our location in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, off Aldi Boulevard due to a customer ceasing business operations at this facility. We have proactively communicated the decision to all impacted employees. Our priority now is to provide comprehensive support to those affected, assisting them in their transition to new career opportunities. We are deeply grateful for the continued support of the people and leadership of Wilson County and remain committed to the long-term health of our Middle Tennessee operations."

Statement from leaders with GEODIS Logistics, LLC

Corey Johns, Executive Director to the Joint Economic & Community Development Board of Wilson County, said there are plans to provide workers with resources to help them rebound from the facility's closure. He added that Wilson County's economy is robust; in April, the county reported an unemployment rate of just 2.4%.

Johns said he fully expects these individuals to rebound quickly in the tight labor market.

"Stay positive. This isn't something anyone ever looks forward to," Johns said. "There are lots of opportunities out there, and if we can assist them directly through our office, they shouldn't hesitate to contact us."

The board will partner with Wilson Works — a county-wide development program — and the Northern Middle Tennessee Workforce Development Board Inc. to help support paid response efforts to make sure all affected employees can access both information and services like re-training opportunities and unemployment insurance.

Part of those resources include partnering with their Wilson Works county wide works development program and Northern Middle Tennessee Workforce Development board to support paid response efforts to ensure the impacted employees have access to information and services. Including unemployment insurance, re-training opportunities for possible career changes.
