CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — One Clarksville couple has started working to get back on track after their store was struck just days before they were slated to open.

Franklin Mir and his wife Rachael got a plot twist plot twist when they showed up to the Clarksville Book Shop Tuesday.

“From the door you can see the dust and my daughter was asking me, 'Did something happen to the floors?'" Franklin said. "And then when we opened the door, we realized that someone had been here."

That dust was foam that came from their fire extinguisher and covered nearly everything. In addition, the owners found drinks and tools thrown across their business and a giant hole in the wall.

However, they were impressed by the response of Clarksville Police.

“I called 911 — in less than two minutes, they were here. It was fast,” Franklin said. “Three officers came — two patrol cars — they were really thoughtful, thorough, they took their time.”

He also suspected the officers may be fellow bookworms.

“They were sad because they were waiting on the store to open,” Franklin said. “I'm guessing they're book readers because they really wanted to be here. They were also here this morning.”

Franklin said his wife has worked for more than two years to open the business. They’re now working together to stay on track to open, and hope to soon have this chapter behind them.

"It's a major setback because, as you can see, this is not going to be a one-day clean up," Franklin said. "So I don't know how long it's going to take, but hopefully we will be opening next Friday."

A spokesman with Clarksville Police asked anyone with information on this case to call 911.
