BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WKRN) — Ahead of the Fourth of July holiday weekend, Brentwood Fire and Rescue is upping its enforcement.
While Brentwood will be hosting its own fireworks show on Friday, the Brentwood Fire and Rescue will conduct patrols around the city from Wednesday, July 2, through Saturday, July 5.
If anyone is found using fireworks, they'll be given a warning, and the fireworks will be confiscated. Further use could warrant a fine.
Brentwood Director of Community Relations Charles Booth said the city's goal is just to remind residents that fireworks are not a part of the city code and could be dangerous, so they are encouraging residents to stick to the rules.

"Some people might not realize that they're not allowed to shoot fireworks in the city, so it's also an educational opportunity for them," Booth said. "We understand there might be a little disappointment, but that's just the way we have to enforce the code."
Brentwood officials want everyone to have a safe Independence Day, but they are warning residents to leave the fireworks to the professionals. Brentwood's fireworks show is at Crockett Park on Friday, July 4, at 9 p.m.
