ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) — Some big name box stores are coming to Antioch.

Metro Councilmember Joy Styles, who represents the area, made the announcement during a recent community meeting.

Styles told News 2 she's been pushing for bigger retailers to come to the Antioch area for a long time but wanted to make sure they're the right fit.

Antioch is rapidly growing and has seen a lot of development over the past few years. Even though several new stores have come to town, Styles said residents still need more options.

She told News 2 she's tried to get Costco to Antioch, but the company chose to open up in Murfreesboro instead; however, Styles said her efforts didn't go to waste, as other retailers have indicated they will open up Antioch locations.

"Yes, there are big box stores coming. I cannot tell you who they are," Styles said at the meeting. "As soon as I can, I will tell y'all. You will be happy, I can tell you that. Everybody is going to be happy. It is not trash."

Styles also pointed out the need for big name bookstores like Barnes & Noble or Books A Million in her neighborhood. She said she hopes the new police precinct will help deter shoplifting, making Antioch even more attractive for businesses.
