NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – It was a day many Commodore fans had only dreamed of until now: Saturday featured a visit from ESPN's "College GameDay" after 17 years, as well as another football victory for Vanderbilt University.

The Commodores went head-to-head against No. 15 University of Missouri on Saturday, Oct. 25. After being tied for the majority of the game, Vanderbilt came out on top, winning 17-10 and extending the school's best start to the football season in more than 80 years.

Not only did the Dores win their fifth game in a row, but the "College GameDay" crew was there to kick off the day.

“It was an amazing opportunity...It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our team, for our brand, and for Nashville,” Pancake Pantry owner Chip Bradley told News 2.

Bradley starts most Saturdays by watching "College GameDay." This weekend, though, instead of seeing the broadcast from his couch, he was there on Vanderbilt's campus.

“When Nashville puts a party together, they really do it right,” Bradley said.

Hillsboro Village's very own Pancake Pantry was featured on the show.

“We had chocolate chip pancakes, cinnamon roll pancakes, buttermilk pancakes,” Bradley described. “We had strawberry shortcake pancakes, silver dollar pancakes -- just, I mean, you name it. Fresh whipped cream was on there; all of our fresh compotes were on there.”

Bradley's business has been a long-time supporter of Vanderbilt. He said that seeing the progress the school's athletics has made is remarkable.

“I was telling one of my buddies that it's amazing to see Vanderbilt, Alabama, Georgia, and Texas A&M in the top 10,” Bradley said. “I said, 'Who would ever have thought that day would come?'”

Matt Lockin sure did not see this coming.

“I was born and raised in Nashville, went to Vandy, and then was a student-athlete, and we were a laughing stock for a long time, and maybe we still are, but at least we're winning some games now,” Lockin said.

The last time he went to a Vandy football game was 30 years ago, when he was still a student. However, seeing "College GameDay" highlighting his alma mater brought back all the excitement.

“I was here for business. I wasn't really planning on coming out, but I saw 'College GameDay' was here and I was like, 'I mean, they're top 10 in the country... We've got to go,'” Lockin explained.

Nevertheless, he's staying cautious for the rest of the season since there still some big games coming up.

“It's been a long time coming,” Lockin said. “Just enjoy it while you can.”

Next week, Vandy will be on the road to take on the Longhorns at the University of Texas at Austin.
