NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Thursday marks 24 years since the 9/11 attacks back in 2001. Several remembrance events will be held across Nashville and Middle Tennessee. 

The Franklin Police Department is holding its 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 8 a.m. at Franklin's Police Headquarters, 900 Columbia Avenue. Guest speakers will be at the event, including the Franklin Police and Fire Chief, along with Franklin Mayor Ken Moore. The community is invited to come together at Franklin's Police Headquarters to honor the lives lost and pay tribute to the survivors and first responders. 

The Rutherford County Sherriff's Office is hosting a ceremony at 9 a.m. at their 9/11 Memorial, located at 940 New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro. There will be a ringing of the bell by the Smyrna Fire Department to remember the victims, a 21-gun salute by law enforcement Honor Guards, raising the POW/MIA flag by Rolling Thunder and more. Anyone who can't attend the ceremony can watch it live on the Rutherford County Sherriff's Office Facebook page. 

Clarksville Fire and Rescue will also host a ceremony to honor lives lost in the terrorist attacks at 9:30 a.m. at their headquarters, 821 Franklin Street. The program will include a joint honor guard of local first responders and military personnel, a placement of a memorial wreath and a tribute to Clarksville Fire Rescue firefighters who died in the line of duty. CFR firefighters plan to participate in the Memorial Stair Climb following the ceremony. Firefighters will climb 110 flights of stairs in remembrance of the 110 floors of the World Trade Center Twin Towers and the first responders who gave their lives. 

All of these public ceremonies are open for anyone to participate.
