MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — A multi-agency investigation in Murfreesboro led to the seizure of over 60 pounds of methamphetamine, fentanyl, firearms and money, according to the Murfreesboro Police Department.
According to an MPD Facebook post, the investigation included the department's overdose unit, the Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force Group One and the Tennessee National Guard Counter Drug Task Force Analyst.
Police said the investigation began after an overdose death occurred in December 2024 in Murfreesboro. The investigation has been ongoing for six months and expanded to Nashville and California.
MPD's post said officers seized about 62 pounds of methamphetamine, six pounds of fentanyl, seven firearms and cash.

According to the DEA, as little as two milligrams of fentanyl can be lethal, but it depends on the person's body size, tolerance and usage.
MPD officials said the investigation remains active.
