NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — It's a constant conversation across Nashville: bad traffic, a lack of parking, and pedestrian safety.

Wednesday morning, neighbors in 12South packed into a Metro Nashville Police Department precinct to voice their concerns with the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure.

12South, a bustling neighborhood right outside of downtown Nashville, has slowly turned into its own little city.

With that comes growing pains.

NDOT said they have received more than 200 complaints in the area during a recent community survey.

One of the most popular gripes was the lack of employee parking for people working along the neighborhood's main artery.

Other residents complained about a lack of designated areas for rideshare pick-ups and drop-offs.

NDOT said more than 120 people who replied to the survey are in favor of requiring businesses to provide parking for their employees in order to keep cars off the main avenue.

One resident, Ian Hartert, told News 2 he's ready for change in the neighborhood.

"People get very frustrated with the parking situation. I think, as far as speed limits on our street, we have people who race down our streets. We have young kids on our street," Hartert said.

NDOT gave a list of action items they believe are necessary to mitigate this frustration.

They include a two-hour parking limit along 12 South, designated rideshare drop-off locations, and working with parking garages in 12South to provide employee parking.
