NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A traffic stop in Madison led to the arrest of a wanted man and the discovery of guns, officials said.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said Specialized Investigations Division TITANS detectives stopped a Nissan Rogue on Gallatin Pike at Madison Street on Thursday, May 22.

According to authorities, 21-year-old Tongai Davidson—who was reportedly wanted on outstanding domestic violence and vandalism warrants—was found sitting in the front passenger's seat.

Davidson reportedly attempted to run away from detectives, but was quickly taken into custody. He was found to be in possession of a handgun with a Glock switch, making it fully automatic, police said.

Detectives said they also recovered a black backpack, which Davidson allegedly admitted was his, from inside the SUV. A second handgun with an extended magazine, marijuana packaged for resale, a digital scale and $104 in cash were reportedly found in the backpack.

In addition to the outstanding warrants, records show the 21-year-old was also charged with gun possession during the commission of a felony, unlawful possession of a prohibited weapon, felony drug possession and evading arrest. He is being held in Metro Jail on a $78,000 bond.

Meanwhile, another passenger in the Nissan—identified a 20-year-old Malachi Lawson—was charged with felon in possession of a handgun. Officials added he was convicted of robbery in Sumner County in 2023.

Booking records show Lawson remains jailed on a $2,500 bond. No additional information was released.
