SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) -- A month-long investigation in Sumner County led to two arrests and the seizure of drugs and weapons, but authorities are still trying to track down another man.
The investigation began after a member of law enforcement started receiving multiple complaints about alleged drug activity at a home on Hillwood Drive. On Oct. 8, the Hendersonville Police Department SWAT Team and members of the 18th Judicial District Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at the residence.
Authorities said they took 28-year-old Jacquez Vinson and 29-year-old Lamarcus Udley into custody, but their prime suspect, 28-year-old Kemontez Newsome, was not there.
"They're probably some mid-level guys, especially here in Sumner County. A lot of the narcotics flow from Davidson County into our county," a drug agent said.
According to law enforcement, Newsome was selling drugs from the home.
Authorities said they discovered a variety of drugs in the house -- including in a common area and the rooms where Vinson and Udley were located -- as well as Newsome's vehicle in the driveway.
Agents reportedly found three handguns and a drum magazine, along with multiple pounds of drugs like cocaine, marijuana, MDMA, and psychedelic mushrooms. They also seized dozens of vials of a liquid psilocybin that even longtime law enforcement hadn't seen before.
"Each of these bottles contains exactly 5 grams worth of psilocybin mushrooms. Upon twisting the cap, what it does is it infuses those 5 grams of mushrooms into that liquid," an agent explained to News 2. "This is one that's actually activated: we twisted, it immediately changed colors upon the psilocybin being infused with the drink."
While conducting hours of surveillance, law enforcement said they watched a multitude of vehicles come to Newsome's residence and leave after a fairly short amount of time.
News 2 learned that all three men involved in this case have drug histories.
Vinson was busted by the Metro Nashville Police Department for doing burnouts on Lower Broadway in 2023. According to an affidavit, the incident happened around pedestrians in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
As for Newsome, he was arrested in 2017 in Nashville for possession of drugs and weapons. Per the affidavit, officers seized a large amount of money, 415 grams of marijuana, and digital scales.
Authorities are still looking for Newsome. If you have any information regarding his whereabouts, you're asked to to contact your local law enforcement agency.
