Description
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The heat and humidity is taking over Middle Tennessee for the next several days with high temperatures at and above average. At the same time, storm chances continue. There will be periods of greater weather dynamics that will pose a severe risk, and the next one worth noting is on Friday.
Looking ahead to the end of this week, severe weather chances have increased for Friday into early Saturday. The severe risk technically starts Thursday for a Marginal Risk (level 1/5) for all of Southern Kentucky and northern Middle Tennessee, and then on Friday a Slight Risk (level 2/5) is in effect for most of the News 2 viewing area.

There is only an isolated storm chance on Thursday, but the focus of the strong storm risk will be after 12 a.m. Friday toward daybreak. On Friday, the morning round of storms could impact areas north of I-40. The more potent round that could affect everyone is Friday evening into early Saturday morning. This is where the severe weather threats increase. Wind gusts and hail are the primary severe concerns, but an isolated tornado is possible. Also, heavy rain at times will accompany these storms.

Looking to Future Tracker, we get our first glance through early Saturday morning. Starting first with Thursday, mainly dry with only an isolated storm in the afternoon. Temperatures in the 80s and near 90 degrees. No additional storm chances until after 12 a.m. Friday.
Early Friday morning, Future Tracker shows some storm development in Southern Kentucky to northern Middle Tennessee. This will be possible as there is sufficient moisture and energy for storms to sustain themselves. These storms end and then sunshine and daytime heating takes over into the afternoon.
Late afternoon into the night will be the timeframe that severe weather will be most likely. With highs in the middle to upper 80s again on Friday, plus greater weather dynamics, the severe weather potential will increase to pose a risk for large hail and damaging wind gusts for our area. Note the line of storms coming in after dark on Friday evening into Saturday morning. It will be imperative to stay alert and have ways to get weather warnings.
Storms end Saturday morning and then we expect a quiet but humid Saturday with little rain in the afternoon. On Sunday, storm chances increase, and those could possibly be on the strong side.
