Quick Response And Fire Suppression Tech Prevent Major Damage At White House Apartments

WHITE HOUSE, TENNESSEE (SMOKEY BARN NEWS): Modern fire suppression technology, along with the quick and aggressive response by local firefighters, saved a new apartment complex from sustaining heavy damage Thursday afternoon in White House.

According to White House City Fire Chief Garrett, his team was dispatched to a fire alarm at Sage North Apartments in the area of the 900 building. That information was quickly updated to a structure fire with flames visible, the first call coming into 911 at 12:16 PM.

On arrival, crews found smoke coming from the rear window of a third-floor apartment. Firefighters made their way to the apartment, forced entry, and encountered heavy smoke conditions. Firefighters searched for any occupants and deployed a water extinguisher on the fire.

Officials say the bulk of the fire was held at bay by a sprinkler system that activated due to flame spread. Sage North’s fire suppression technology automatically notified 911 dispatch that the sprinkler system had activated. The fire appears to have started from a candle left burning after the occupant had left the apartment, though the cause remains under investigation, Garrett said.

Due to the combination of the suppression technology and the aggressive actions by our local firefighters on scene, damage to the apartment was minimal. One animal was also safely removed from the unit. Officials told Smokey Barn News that critical seconds were saved with teamwork and modern fire suppression technology.
