NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A new development could come to the Cane Ridge Farms area, but some neighbors are voicing concerns about how this will affect their homes and way of life.
After hearing the proposal in a recent meeting, one neighbor said his main concern is the roads.
The developer M/I Homes is proposing a new development in Cane Ridge called Ridge Side Heights. It includes 129 single family homes for sale with a third of them being two-story townhomes. The developers even planned a pedestrian walkway connection for the new homes to the already existing neighborhood of Cane Ridge.
Resident Timothy Johns has lived in the Cane Ridge area since January 2018. Johns said that after the Tanger Outlets in Century Farms were built, the whole area started to grow.
Johns said that while growth is good for the area, it's going to bring more traffic to their subdivision. And he's not sure they're ready for that. He wants to see what the developers could possibly do about the roads to keep neighbors safe.
With Cane Ridge being a cut-through area near the I-24 intersection, and an elementary and middle schools nearby, Johns said they don't want to see any potential accidents.
And for neighbors who have young kids, they're concerned that the walkway connection and traffic could be dangerous.
“And when I say traffic, I’m talking about the construction traffic," Johns said. "With dump trucks constantly driving through here, what’s that going to do to our roads?"
The proposal still has to go through the rezoning process and be approved by the planning commission and Metro Council.
