CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — On Saturday, community members gathered in Ashland City for Recovery Quest.
The action started early Saturday morning at Riverbluff Park with a poker run, and all proceeds went to benefit the Quintenn Clark Foundation. That organization was started by the family of Quintenn Clark, who died from an overdose in 2021. Their mission "is to provide resources for treatment of addiction, recovery, support for families affected by addiction, and education about drug use," per their website.
Though Bobby Sells won the poker run, with the proceeds going toward recovery outreach, the Cheatham County community at large is the real winner. Musicians and speakers performed at the event throughout the day, and several nonprofits and other community organizations and businesses were also there to teach attendees about substance use disorders and addiction.
The event coincides with Tennessee's recognition of September as National Recovery Month. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the recognition began in 1969 as a way "to promote and support" treatment and recovery practices.
