NOLENSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - Nolensville is not only growing in population but also vertically. The town is preparing for taller buildings in the next few years.

This week, Nolensville made an essential addition to its fire department, the town's first-ever ladder truck.

Town leaders say it comes at the perfect time. Nolensville has several multi-story developments in the works right now, like a new Publix on the corner of Rocky Fork Road.

Many others are already planned for the area.

Until now, the town has lacked the equipment to respond to taller buildings.

Nolensville's brand-new ladder fire truck cost around $1.7 million, but leaders say it was worth every penny.

"The ladder is a 107-foot ladder. It will easily get to a 3-story facility and get them on the roof of those 3-story facilities. So, we're very excited about having that piece, and it's going to be a great addition to our workforce," Nolensville Town Manager Victor Lay said.

It can be a long process to get a ladder truck. Normally, it takes four years to get one, but the Nolensville Fire Department was able to secure theirs in a year and a half.
