NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Do you still need ideas for Mother's Day? Not to worry — several Tennessee State Parks will offer events, special dining and fun for the day.
Tennessee State Parks offers programming all year, but this weekend, they'll have some dedicated programming for Mother's Day:
On Saturday at 3 p.m., you can paint a terracotta flower pot and learn about different native plants in the area around Burgess Falls State Park. Attendance costs $10 to help cover the cost of materials.
On Sunday, former president of the Tennessee Bluebird Association, Don Hazel, will share an education program about bluebirds at Harpeth River State Park. The two-hour event starts at 2:30 p.m. and includes information on how to care for nest boxes — a $20 registration is required to help cover the cost of materials so you can build your own nest box.
Also on Sunday, Paris Landing State Park will host a free hand flower craft workshop at 2 p.m. at the nature center on Bridgeview Road.
You can go on a Mother's Day hike at the Port Royal State Historic Site starting at noon. Sunday. The free half-mile hike covers uneven, possibly muddy terrain. If you plan on going, you're asked to check in at the visitor center located inside the Masonic Lodge and General Store.
Tims Ford State Park will host two Mother's Day events on Sunday. At 10 a.m., the park will host a Mother's Day-themed scavenger hunt and hike. The hike costs $3, and attendees will meet at the Nature Center. Later at the Lakeview Marina, there will be a one-hour Mother's Day pontoon tour along Tims Ford Lake. The tour costs $20 for adults and $15 for all attendees 15 and younger.
