Multi-City Burglary Suspect Apprehended in Millersville After Foot Chase
MILLERSVILLE, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Millersville authorities have arrested a suspect linked to a series of burglaries in the area, following a surveillance operation at a local campground. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Luis Caleb Negrete Jr is now facing numerous charges and a $287,500 bond.
“We have been investigating burglaries in the area for the past few months,” said Millersville Interim City Manager Michael Gorham. “After a great deal of investigation, Mr. Negrete was developed as a suspect, and our officers began to look for an opportunity to apprehend him. Our Police Department set up surveillance in the campground on Bethel Road where we knew he was residing.”
According to Gorham, the suspect was spotted entering the campground store, and an officer followed him inside. Upon noticing the officer, the suspect fled on foot. Another officer pursued him across a field while a third repositioned their patrol vehicle to cut him off. He was ultimately apprehended, allegedly confessed under Miranda, and, at the time of the statement, remained in custody at the Robertson County Detention Facility in Springfield.
According to Gorham, after he was taken into custody, Negrete told officers: “Man, I hate running from y’all…made me lose my breath!”
Gorham added that the suspect was also wanted in Gallatin and Knoxville.
Negrete was taken into custody Friday afternoon and is currently being held at the Robertson County Detention Facility in Springfield.
Negrete is facing 19 charges, including:
-
8 counts of burglary
-
2 counts of theft under $1,000
-
2 counts of theft of a motor vehicle
-
2 counts of theft of property (one over $500, one over $10,000)
-
1 count of burglary of a motor vehicle
-
1 count of attempted criminal offense
-
1 count of vandalism
His total bond has been set at $287,500, and his next court appearance is scheduled for July 28, 2025, in General Sessions Court.
