NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man was charged with felony theft Monday in connection with a nearly $150,000 burglary after he was seen operating heavy equipment at his residence in East Nashville.
According to court documents, on July 1, the owner of a Nashville-based engineering company was informed by another citizen that the company's machinery was seen at a residence in the 100 block of Elmhurst Avenue.
The company owner arrived at his Goodlettsville warehouse to find it had been burglarized, and multiple pieces of equipment were missing. The items, estimated to cost a total of $142,000, included a trailer, utility vehicles branded with the company logo and a tractor with a rotary cutter.
During an investigation into the residence on Elmhurst Avenue, detectives observed Jeremy Christie, 47, and another individual using the machinery on the property. Reports said when Christie noticed the officers, he fled into a nearby wooded area.
Detectives obtained photos of the men operating the tractor and acquired search warrants for the property, which is Christie's registered address. Reports said the search resulted in the recovery of the missing items.
Christie was charged with felony theft of property and booked into Metro Jail on a $75,000 bond.
