FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — Numerous cars and structures sustained hail damage in Williamson County during Tuesday's severe weather.
Brown's Body Shop said the business received between 50 and 60 calls Wednesday morning trying to set up appointments to fix hail-damaged cars. They expect to be backed up for months.
"We're absolutely slammed,” Robby Hampton, District Manager of Brown’s Body Shop, told News 2.
"Depending on how big the hail is, it could be as bad as replacing the parts or we can actually do the paintless dent repair like we're doing to this vehicle here,” Hampton explained, gesturing to a vehicle in the shop.
Damage reports included golf ball, tennis ball and even some baseball-sized hail in the county.
Hampton said that while most hail repairs are cosmetic, he's also seen some broken windshields.
"With the baseball-sized hail — that is basically replacing almost any panel that it touches," Hampton said. "It can actually break glass [and] sunroofs; it does a lot of damage to the vehicle."
According to the National Traffic Safety Institute, if you find yourself driving during a hailstorm, the best thing you can do is slow down or try to seek shelter under bridges, overpasses or gas station.
Brown’s Body Shop said if you received hail damage, it’s best to contact your insurance provider.
