Firefighters Save Springfield Area Home After Adjacent Building Egnites

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Local firefighters moved fast Christmas Eve, saving a home from certain destruction after a garage/outbuilding turned into a fireball. The fire was so enormous that it ignited adjacent trees and even the lawn. Given the timing of the fire was a miracle that anyone spotted it.

On Christmas Eve, there’s less traffic, and it’s quiet. Fires can get away from you fast because there’s no one there to see it, but in this case, it was the homeowner who somehow noticed the fire and called it in, the first call coming into 911 at 3:39 a.m. The fire occurred just outside of Springfield on Hwy 431 North, not far from Lakeview Road. The fire involved a garage/outbuilding that was positioned extremely close to the home. Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading to the residence, an outcome firefighters refer to as a “good stop. According to North Robertson Fire and Rescue Fire Chief Chad Gregory, the outbuilding was a total loss, but the home sustained little to no damage. A cause of the fire was not immediately available.

No injuries were reported. One person with a medical condition was transported to an area hospital for observation. Multiple agencies responded, including Orlinda Fire Department, Cross Plains Fire Department, North Robertson Fire and Rescue, and Adams Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, and the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office. Because of the quick and coordinated response, firefighters prevented what could have been a devastating loss for a family on Christmas Eve.
