NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 31-year-old from Franklin has been sentenced for cyberstalking 14 people linked to Christ Presbyterian Academy in the wake of the deadly mass shooting at The Covenant School.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Middle District of Tennessee, McKenzie McClure AKA Kalvin McClure, will serve 30 months in a federal prison. McClure was convicted in March 2025.
McClure left a threatening, five-minute voicemail for Christ Presbyterian Academy just before the one-year anniversary of the deadly mass shooting at The Covenant School in Green Hills.
According to a release, McClure's tone on the voicemail alternated between displaying an angry, menacing, and disturbed mindset, and a clear fixation on CPA and people affiliated with it. After receiving the voicemail, CPA and nearby Currey Ingram Academy canceled classes on Monday, March 25, 2024.

In the voicemail, McClure referenced several acts of terror, as well as a fictional terror attack from the movie “Deadpool 2.” Immediately after mentioning the movie "Deadpool 2," McClure said “killed by my hand type of stuff” and mentioned the school would “know exactly what [McClure] talking about.
McClure's social media activity regularly referenced CPA, Christ Presbyterian Church (CPC), people associated with CPA and CPC, and was fixated on “school shootings, school lockdowns, guns, and other violent incidents,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
In addition to the social media posts, a video was posted on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024, of McClure walking the exterior of the CPA/CPC campus while talking about watching the school burn on 9/11 and alluded to the consequences of ignoring “credible terroristic threats” like “George W” did on 9/11.
CPA’s surveillance cameras captured McClure trying to enter the locked doors of the church sanctuary three times. McClure also photographed maps of the school grounds and was seen spinning around while standing on the CPA crews with both middle fingers extended, according to victims' testimony.
After listening to the voicemail, CPA officials discovered the McClure's identity, reviewed social media posts and CPA’s surveillance video, and recognized the similarities between the defendant’s fixation on CPA and the Covenant shooter's fixation on Covenant.
Officers on CPA campus on Monday, March 25, 2024, encountered and hospitalized McClure for mental health treatment. McClure was warned to stop posting about CPA and CPC on social media by agents who explained the CPA community was frightened.
But on April 3, 2024, McClure again began posting threats on social media that targeted CPA, CPC, and people associated with CPA and CPC. McClure was arrested at the end of April.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, CPA spent more than $140,000 on increased security measures for the safety of its administration, faculty, staff, students, and families amid McClure's threats.
Upon release, McClure will be on supervised probation for three years. McClure is ordered to have no communication with people associated with CPA/CPC and their families without express prior approval by U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services, and cannot travel within five miles of the CPA/CPC campus or associated campuses.
On March 27, 2023, six people, including three children, were shot and killed at the Covenant School in Green Hills. The victims were identified as Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all 9 years old; as well as Cynthia Peak, 61; Dr. Katherine Koonce, 60; and Mike Hill, 61
