CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Construction crews have been working overtime to finish completing work on Dunbar Cave Road.
The project is a part of Clarksville's Transportation 2020+ improvements plan and city officials are ready to wrap it up. Last week, the Clarksville Street Department said they had entered into the final stages of realigning the road.
A portion of Dunbar Cave Road had been completely closed to traffic. Residents who lived within the closed portion of the roadway still had access to their homes.
The Clarksville Street Department has accelerated the timeline for the Dunbar Cave Road realignment project. Their goal is to improve traffic flow and make it faster within the community.
Clarksville leaders said the push could cause even more traffic delays and they've encouraged drivers to use alternative routes if possible.
Clarksville officials said they're hoping to reopen the road by August 5, before the beginning of this school year, to avoid affecting school bus routes. Advanced warnings and message boards will be in place on Warfield Boulevard.
