BELLEVUE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Weeks after a devastating apartment fire in West Nashville, the community is still stepping up for the families impacted.

Boy Scout Troop 624 may only have a handful of scouts, but every year they have a big yard sale as a fundraiser. This year, the scouts are blocking off two hours of the annual sale for the victims of the Slate Apartment fire to pick out items for free.

The fire ripped through the complex about a month ago, on Aug. 16. Several families who lived there lost almost everything.

Now, even after weeks of fundraisers for them, many of those displaced by the fire are still in need.

Maryam Myers said the scouts hope the yard sale gives the victims renewed hope.

"All of us are connected to this fire in some way," she told News 2. "One of our scouts lives just a couple buildings down. I know somebody personally that lost everything. I know they were working immediately to get all their basic needs, but now that we're about a month or so out, things like picture frames and wall art, things they didn't think of."

The yard sale is open to anyone from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 13, then from noon to 2 p.m. the fire victims will be able to select things for free. The sale is being held at the Bellevue United Methodist Church.
