Description

GALLATIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — After receiving approval from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, plans for the Foxland Harbor Marina are officially underway.

The marina, open to all visitors to Old Hickory Lake, will feature walking trails, fishing piers and a playground in addition to a dry dock and a fuel dock. Developers said facilities at the marina would be state-of-the-art and incorporate conservation practices to ensure water quality and environmental sustainability.

With pedestrian-friendly pathways, residents will have the opportunity to walk, bike or ride golf carts along the marina's nature walk. A restaurant will also be incorporated into the marina later.

It's been decades since a new marina was built in Gallatin. The president of Foxland Harbor Marina, LLC, Bob Goodall called the enhancement and the adjoining community "unprecedented."

"The opportunity to live where you have the Tennessee Grasslands Golf Club and a Marina especially this close of proximity to Nashville, is a crown jewel for the neighbors and the
city of Gallatin," Goodall said. "...Furthermore, this exciting development is set to provide a competitive edge in attracting quality growth to the area, boosting the region's appeal and economic vitality."

The marina will be at the corner of Foxland Boulevard and Douglas Bend Road. No date has been set for the beginning of construction as developers are still completing final planning studies for the project.

The new location will be at the corner of Foxland Boulevard and Douglas Bend Road in Gallatin. It's been almost 70 years since a new marina was built in Gallatin, and the developers are excited to bring this lakeside vision to the community. Since a new marina has not been approved in decades, the developers say, this opportunity to give more community members and visitors access to the lake is much needed.
