Description
SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Deputies with the Sumner County Sheriff's Office and officers with the Gallatin Police Department teamed up over the weekend to arrest a man accused of firing shots from a speeding vehicle.
The incident unfolded on Saturday, May 24 after deputies received a call about a car chasing another vehicle while shots were being fired. According to authorities, at least six gunshots were fired from the suspect vehicle.
Soon after, the SCSO responded to Gallatin city limits, where police were able to locate the suspect vehicle and conduct a felony stop.
Bodycam video obtained by News 2 shows the tense moments as both agencies moved into position and ordered four people to come out of the vehicle with their hands up.
According to Sumner County Sheriff Eric Craddock, 27-year-old Nathan Holcomb—who was a passenger in the backseat—allegedly fired several shots at another vehicle.
"Our deputies received a call from someone who was being followed by another car with guns threatening to shoot," recalled Craddock. "There were some allegations of shots being fired."
As seen on video, the suspects got out of the vehicle one at a time. Authorities reported all four occupants were taken into custody.
"Sumner County residents are blessed to have such coordination between all our law enforcement agencies. The sheriff's department does a tremendous job for us," said Gallatin Police Captain Lamar Ballard.
Inside the vehicle, law enforcement reportedly found a weapon and cocaine.
"This was great police work, great interagency cooperation. The Gallatin Police Department, any time we have ever called and asked for assistance, they have always been there to help out," Craddock added. "This is Sumner County, it's truly a special place because of the teamwork of all the law enforcement agencies in Sumner county. So just another story of criminals coming off the street and going to jail."
Records show Holcomb was charged with reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a Schedule II drug.
It remains unclear on what the initial confrontation was about or what the other three occupants were charged with.
No additional information was released.
