Description
MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) -- A Saturday afternoon traffic stop in Mt. Juliet led to the apprehension of a woman wanted for multiple offenses in Memphis.
According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, an officer noticed a speeding vehicle with a false temporary tag, sparking a traffic stop on South Mt. Juliet Road near Central Pike on Saturday, July 19.
Authorities said the driver initially handed over a driver’s license that belonged to someone else in an attempt to hide her identity. Upon further questioning, she allegedly provided a second fake name and birth date.
Through careful investigation, law enforcement said they discovered both names were known aliases. Police eventually learned the driver -- described as a 34-year-old from Memphis -- had several active warrants out of that city, including identity theft, aggravated burglary, marijuana resale, bond revocations, and failure to appear on serious felony charges.
According to officials, the woman was not only arrested on all of the outstanding warrants, but now she faces additional local charges for identity theft, criminal impersonation, driving on a revoked license, and forgery of a license plate.
"We’re incredibly grateful for the sharp work of our officers and their continued commitment to keeping our community safe," MJPD posted on social media.
No additional details were arrested about this incident, including the name of the woman who was apprehended.
