ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities are investigating after a person was hit and killed by a train Tuesday morning in Antioch.

Officials with CSX told News 2 that the incident took place at approximately 8:34 a.m. on the tracks off Hickory Hollow Parkway near Bell Road.

A person was reportedly standing on the tracks when they were hit by the CSX train. The individual—who has not been identified—died from their injuries.

"We deeply appreciate the swift response from the local emergency personnel and extend our heartfelt thoughts to everyone impacted by this tragic event. This incident is currently under investigation," said a CSX spokesperson.

No additional details about the deadly incident were immediately released.
