SUMNER COUNTRY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Three years after child sex abuse charges were first brought against a man in Sumner County, he now faces the prospect of more than 200 years in prison after he was convicted in a jury trial.
Christopher Howard Alessio, 46, was arrested in October 2022 by Hendersonville detectives after a 13-year-old girl reported that during the summer he sexually assaulted and raped her on multiple occasions.
According to Sumner County District Attorney General Ray Whitley, after Alessio's arrest became public, several additional women and girls came forward with rape and sexual assault allegations against him. A total of six victims told authorities the crimes occurred in White House and Hendersonville over several years, dating as far back as 2005.
After a five day jury trial, Alessio was convicted of six counts of child rape, seven counts of aggravated sexual battery, two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child, five counts of rape and one count of sexual battery by an authority figure.
He remains jailed in Sumner County ahead of his sentencing, which is scheduled for September 5.
